چکیده
Two species of stingless bees, Tetragonula gressitti (Sakagami) and Lepidotrigona arcifera (Cockerell), are reported from Bhutan for the first time. The nest description meliponiculture described. This is gross underestimation Meliponini diversity in summons more study on diversity, biology, meliponiculture.

Recruitment communication in stingless bees (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Meliponini)
The stingless bees (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Meliponini) have evolved sophisticated communication systems that allow foragers to recruit nestmates to good resources. Over the past 50 years, a growing body of research has shown that foragers can communicate three-dimensional resource location, uncovered several potential communication mechanisms, and demonstrated new information transfer mechanisms....

متن کاملThe effect of tropical deforestation on stingless bees of the genus Melipona (Insecta: Hymenoptera: Apidae: Meliponini) in central Rondonia, Brazil
Aims (1) 2 To determine whether deforestation has affected the incidence of species of Melipona in an area undergoing deforestation. (2) To highlight the potential use of GIS and remote-sensed environmental variables in studies of insects as bioindicators of landscape change. Location Central Rondonia, Brazil in the south-western Amazon Basin, an area under intense deforestation pressure for ag...
متن کاملGender identification of five genera of stingless bees (Apidae, Meliponini) based on wing morphology.
Currently, the identification of pollinators is a critical necessity of conservation programs. After it was found that features extracted from patterns of wing venation are sufficient to discriminate among insect species, various studies have focused on this structure. We examined wing venation patterns of males and workers of five stingless bee species in order to determine if there are differ...
متن کاملNestmate recognition in the stingless bee Frieseomelitta varia (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Meliponini): sources of chemical signals
0003-3472 2010 The Association for the Study of A doi:10.1016/j.anbehav.2010.11.020 Social insects use cuticular lipids for nestmate recognition. These lipids are chiefly hydrocarbons that can be endogenously produced or acquired from the environment. Although these compounds are already described as coming from different sources for different groups of social insects, nothing is known about th...
